Tuesdays with Dorie: Classic Brownies
September 13, 2011 at 12:01 am | Posted in cookies & bars, groups, sweet things, tuesdays with dorie | 15 CommentsTags: baking, brownies, chocolate, dessert
I have made lots o’ brownies with TWD (I think there are even still a couple more versions to go), but this is Dorie’s classic…no honey, no cheesecake, no Peppermint Patties…just straight-up chocolate and walnuts. This is a solid brownie, in both the solidly-good sense, and the fudgy-but-not-raw-in-the-middle sense. It’s the one to take to a bake sale, the one to put in a lunchbox, the one that will please everyone (unless they don’t like nuts, but then you just leave them out!).
For the recipe, see Baking: From My Home to Yours by Dorie Greenspan or read Anne Strawberry. Don’t forget to check out the TWD Blogroll!

I agree, this is the perfect for everything brownie! I put a little Chocolate Sour cream Frosting because hubby loves frosting. Frosting was good, This just might be my new go to brownie recipe.

Definitely a good brownie. Loved the nuts in mine, but it would work for sure without them.

Your brownies look so thick and delicious! Mine came out really thin for some reason. No matter, topped with a little ice cream, we still enjoyed them.

Amen! This is totally the go-to traditional brownie. I loved it. Next time I’m thinking about adding in chocolate chunks.

Okay, I made the chocolate thing and I thought it looked really really nice and I stacked them all up sort of artsy like hoping to win this week, but NO NO NO, I get over here and you have perfect brownies cut into TRIANGLES all arranged so artsy and wonderful like a MOMA exhibit…nope, I don’t win this week…it’s you AGAIN. Nice job. Sigh.
