Back to School: Mini Cakes
July 11, 2008 at 6:52 pm | Posted in cakes & tortes, classes, sweet things | 27 CommentsWith so much going on the last couple weeks, I forgot to tell you that I took course on decorating “mini cakes” at Planet Cake in Balmain. In one day, we did a little handbag, a watering can, a present box and a simple two-tier cake.
Doing work in miniature requires a lot of concentration! I’m glad to know how to do the gift box, as I’ve seen that one around (usually in Tiffany blue). And the two-tier had endless decoration possibilities. Right now, I’m taking a gumpaste flower course there…I’ll report back on that one in a few days.

When I landed on your blog this morning, seeing those minis cakes… I was sure, I would have put my hand to burn that your post was about cakes you ordered for a wedding, a shower or whatever else occasion… but never could I imagine you had made them yourself!
Wow… I’m impressed!
I’m not sure if you are an “At home mom” or an “Out of the house professional” …either way, you should consider cake baking and decorating as an eventual retirement plan! LOL …who knows, you could end up stocking up to spend the rest of you days loundging around, somewhere in Polynesia, sipping cocktails and being massaged all day!
Really, those cakes are sublime!

Wow. You made all of those? I know I am late to this party – like 6 years – but these are really cool looking. I am on your blog the side of my blog that said something like “other sites you might like”. They were right! 🙂
