Tuesdays with Dorie: Granola Grabbers
August 19, 2008 at 5:46 am | Posted in cookies & bars, groups, sweet things, tuesdays with dorie | 46 CommentsGranola Grabbers– I feel so wholesome. Perhaps Michelle of Bad Girl Baking was going for that good, clean feeling when she chose these for TWD this week.
Whether you are trying to satisfy the after-school crowd, or are just trying to put aside those impure thoughts you’ve been having about Gael García Bernal ever since watching The Motorcycle Diaries a few days ago, these will do the trick. These chubby little cookies are loaded with granola (of course), wheat germ, nuts, coconut and raisins (or dried cranberries, in my case). I also added a pinch of cinnamon to mine. They are chewy, but the granola also makes them crunchy…a very pleasant combination of textures. I only made a third of a recipe, and I briefly thought about patting the dough into a loaf pan and making bars instead, but I have definitely not been getting my recommended daily dose of cookies lately.
Look in Baking: From My Home to Yours by Dorie Greenspan or on Bad Girl Baking to find the recipe for Granola Grabbers. Don’t forget to check out the TWD Blogroll to see what over 200 other people had to say!

I haven’t made mine yet, I just put my granola in the over and I thought I would come and see how they should look. Thank you for the beautiful visual. This will make a perfect after school snack.

These look great! I like the addition of dried cranberries. I think next time I’d add a bit of cinnamon like you did.

So funny – I also thought they would be nice with cinnamon. I wrote the post last weekend and ended with that, but it won’t go up on the blog until tomorrow. I’ll bet we read this over and over when we see the posts tomorrow. Your cookies look great, and that’s a perfect glass for milk!

I really love your pics. I personally don’t like granola anything but these “might” change my mind. 😉 You should check out my version. I also added cinnamon. 😀

My Dad requests that I make these by asking for “those cookies with all the stuff in them”. They’re awesome!

I really think it might be quite impossible to take a bad photo of these cookies, but your photos are absolutely spectacular. I want the cookies and the milk! Now. Great job!
Comment by Kayte— August 20, 2008 #
I was debating cinnamon but left it out. Glad it worked out!
Comment by Maya— August 20, 2008 #
I love your pictures. Your cookies turned out very good!

Thanks for the comment on my blog. Thankfully, my daughter will mix up her wardrobe. The uniform routine only lasts about a month.
Comment by Erin— August 20, 2008 #
Honestly, I don’t think these cookies could distract me from Gael. It would take a really, really good cookie to do that – and maybe some ice cream and hot fudge with it too! I loved that movie. 🙂
Comment by kittymama— August 20, 2008 #
I think I should re-evaluate the fact that I don’t have a daily quota of cookies, it seems like a serious lack on my part. Those look fabulous.
Comment by Caitlin— August 20, 2008 #
your cookies look perfect!
Comment by Jaime— August 20, 2008 #
Just out of curiosity: what is the medical recommended daily dose of cookies? :-p
Comment by uglydudefood— August 20, 2008 #
Great looking cookies! I’ll bet the cranberries were great; I used dried sour cherries which added the same kind of note.
Comment by Nancy/n.o.e— August 20, 2008 #
If I didn’t know any better, I’d eat my laptop screen. Nice job on the grabbers.
Comment by Danielle— August 20, 2008 #
Your cookies look great! I enjoyed mine as well. Chewy & crispy – a wonderful combination!
Comment by Claudia— August 20, 2008 #
These cookies were so delicious, but I’m not sure that they would do the trick when trying to cleanse me of unpure thoughts about Gael García Bernal! 😉
Comment by mari— August 20, 2008 #
The addition of the cinnamon was definitely a good idea, and I wish I’d thought of it. They cookies needed a little extra something, and now I know what it was!
Comment by Madam Chow— August 21, 2008 #
Delicious! These look so good!
Comment by Janna from Honeyed Hashette— August 21, 2008 #
