cinnamon squares

I’ve often wondered when Cinnamon Squares would have their fifteen minutes of TWD fame.  Thanks to Tracey of Tracey’s Culinary Adventures, their time has come.

Chocolate, coffee, and, of course, heaps of cinnamon join forces here to form simple squares of cakey goodness.  Add frosting, and it becomes simply outrageous.  As an aside, why do I always accidentally stick my finger in frostings, and then notice only after I’ve taken pictures??

For the recipe, see Baking: From My Home to Yours by Dorie Greenspan, or read Tracey’s Culinary Adventures.  Don’t forget to check out the TWD Blogroll!

  11. Looks like I missed a good one. Save me some.

  12. were the squares soft and moist? i’m curious about their texture.

    • Amanda- The recipe has a boat-load of butter, so they were nice and moist. Pretty much your typical “snack cake” kind of texture. They kept well for a couple of days (I did a half recipe in a loaf pan, so we didn’t have them around too long).

  13. This looks like the perfect slice! We loved this one, and I loved that it was so easy to make.

  25. Gorgeous…how did you get that frosting to look like that? The most fun this week is seeing everyone’s ribbon of chocolate inside the cake…yours is very nice. They are all different!

  26. PERFECT swirly frosting! AND that filling is the best (how it swirls down and around). Wow… that is one amazing photo! My frosting kept melting for some reason. Maybe it was from the 80 degree kitchen I was in! Looks absolutely wonderful!
