brrrrr-ownies

I wonder if, when Karen picked Brrrrr-ownies for this week’s TWD, she somehow knew we would have a heatwave on the East Coast, and that I’d want pretty much everything, including my sweets, on the rocks.  Turns out chopped up YORK Peppermint Patties are just the thing to give brownies an A/C blast.

I don’t normally go for recipes that have candy added to them, but these were good.  Some of the Patties’ white centers stayed in whole chunks, some bubbled up to the surface, and some melted in the insides, giving the brownies a nice gooeyness.  (BTW, spray and line your baking pan with parchment.)  Kinda crazy-looking though, and I had a mighty hard time getting a decent photo of them.

To get the sensation, see Baking: From My Home to Yours by Dorie Greenspan, or read Welcome to our Crazy Blessed Life.  Don’t forget to check out the TWD Blogroll!

These look delicioussss. Sounds like they were just the ticket for your hot weather – glad they did the trick! Keep cool (or make more brownies)!

Photo looks decent enough from this seat…and your description of how they melted perfectly fits with what I experienced also, so I must have done something right!

Brownies? With candy? You can’t go wrong! Chocolate and mint is a lovely combination. Your brownie looks great! 🙂

Some brownies are tough to photograph, but I think you did a pretty excellent job. 🙂

This was not the most photogenic dessert, but they were very refreshing for a brownie. You managed to take a great picture! Well done.

Those look really good. We are having a heat wave here in Alabama too. It was 99 degrees one day last week. I wish I had some ice cream to go with my brownies, but I didn’t. Yours look perfect.

Mmmm, yours looks like it has any icy coolness spread on top. Very nice!

I’ve kind of given up on getting a decent picture of any brownie, LOL.

I think it’s a great photo. Summer still hasn’t made it to So Cal so I’m a little envious of your heat wave!

We’ve had a heat wave here too! As soon as I made these at weekend though it’s started raining. Not sure what to make of that. I did like them and they were especially good straight from the fridge.

Yes, yes, yes! These were crazy hard to photograph. I couldn’t agree more.

I agree – these were darn good, even in chilly Melbourne!

  23. tammy's avatar

yum! We dont have peppermint patties in NZ, so think I will make these with after dinner mint slices. I am yet to make them – maybe this weekend

Yes, these were hard to take a good photograph of! In the end I went for the ice cream and hot fudge sauce route. They were so delicious!

Your brownies look so good. I love the way you can see the filling through the top!

I wonder if this would work with our Nestle Peppermint Patties? Did you ever eat those here? Terrible chocolate, but great peppermint centre! (Have a weakness for peppermint!)

I’ve never had them, but they are what another TWDer used, and her brownies seemed to come out nicely.
